Program Description:
Evaluating Bank Performance, a five week AIB Online
Course, provides bank board members with an
understanding of how to evaluate bank performance
including key financial ratios, the use of peer groups,
and key risk measures. Each class is limited to 20
participants. CEOs from banks with participating
directors are invited to observe the entire course and
serve as a mentor to the directors from their bank.
After successfully completing this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify the key measures of bank performance and
the factors affecting bank performance
- Identify the key measures of risk within the bank and
the risk categories used by the regulatory agencies
- Understand the value of the Uniform Bank
Performance Report as well as its limitations in
comparing performance to other banks
- Recognize factors to consider in selecting peer
groups with which to compare performance
- Understand how banks attempt to measure the
profitability of various lines of business
- Understand the use of the balanced scorecard in
identifying both non-financial and financial
measures of performance
- Identify the key drivers on non-interest income and
non-interest expense
- Understand how banks attempt to to measure
customer profitability.
